ZCC5160 is a step-down DC/DC regulator with an
internal switch, featuring SKIP control mode, which
8 d5 z( \  ^+ y2 {- kcombines low quiescent current with high switching
frequency to achieve high-efficiency regulation over a
/ ^7 I+ ~8 E' Z% H2 G4 @- _wide range of load currents. SKIP mode uses a short
( P. z4 g. t8 r' F5 [& ]5 _"burst" cycle to switch the inductor current through
7 v: r$ y# H* tthe internal power MOSFET, followed by a sleep
cycle in which the power switch is turned off and the
# E/ f" j* j; H, Z% Xload current is provided by the output capacitor. At
light loads, burst cycles are a small fraction of the
total cycle time, minimizing average supply current
7 {3 U; `. r7 q9 ?$ H2 Hand greatly improving efficiency at light loads.
